Default Anyone ever done LDAP lookups on device?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm looking at creating an application which can perform LDAP lookups through an MDS connection to an internal LDAP server. Has anyone ever used package net.rim.device.api.ldap?

I'm wondering how well it works and if creating a web service to handle the LDAP queries will be better/easier and just pass the results back to the device.

I've never done any sort of Java/J2ME programming before and am still learning, but I'd rather get some advice from the pro's before creating something that is sub-par and then have to build a web service anyway.

Any help/advice would be appreciated. Google searches for net.rim.device.api.ldap only come up with API documentation and I have been unable to find any other code samples out there.
