Default Direct TCP connections

Please Login to Remove!

I was told that it is possible to use direct HTTP connections with all devices with OS v4.0+. Thus, it is possible to by pass the WAP gateway on carriers that support direct TCP connections.

According to BB tech support ... "Yes, your understanding is correct. On all BlackBerry handhelds running version 4.0 or higher, a direct TCP stack is available, which would allow any type of connections to connect directly to the location. However, please keep in mind that the carrier must provide support for these type of connections. Not all carriers allow direct TCP connections."

My response ... "Do you have a list of carriers in the US and Canada that support direct TCP connections?"

Their response ... "Unfortunately, there is no such list available."

So, is there a list available?

Nextel provides a TCP/IP stack. I don't know about the rest.
