Default Overwrite text in AutoTextEditField

Please Login to Remove!

I find it tedious to have to use the delete button to remove text from a field before replacing the text with a different value. Is there a way to set up a text field, whether it is AutoTextEditField or something else, where the user typin would overwrite the text instead of inserting?

I assume it would require overriding part of AutoTextEditField, but I don't know where.

Thanks!
