Default I really need ur help (pushing .jad .jar …) - 08-31-2005, 08:04 AM

I prepare HelloWorld example using JDE.
It generates all the .cod, .jad, .debug etc… files.
Now I want to push that application to device.

How can I do it?
Which file should push to device?
How we set MIME type etc?
Is it possible to load in device Helloword, when I pushed it?

I already can push files via web browser (IIS), text files, web pages can push.
But when I pushed .jad .jar file device says error “Unsupported media type..”

I'm just a beginner with BB programming. But I read today in the manuals that you need to install applications via the RIM Desktop Manager, which is installed automatically by the CD provided.
Hope it'll help

I take it you are using BES 4.0? If so you will need to create a Software Configuration in the BlackBerry Handheld Configuration Tool. You can then add a third party package to be wirelessly delivered to handhelds.

The instructions on doing this are outlined in the Help file for the BlackBerry Handheld Configuration Tool.

If you plan to install through the desktop manager then you will need an ALX file. Right click on your project in the JDE and select "Generate ALX file". Then copy the alx and cod files somewhere and go into the desktop manager and add them.

You can use the JavaLoader commandline tool that comes with the JDE to upload the cod file onto the device:

%JDE_HOME%\bin\javaloader.exe -usb upload HelloWorld.cod

in my opinion the easiest way to load new software is to put it on a webserver and call the jad-file with your BBs browser

For development and testing, I find javaloader the best.

For production, either OTA via a JAD or a software configuration that pushes from the BES.
