Default Trouble Making socket connection over wifi

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,
I'm having problems making a socket connection over wifi to my desktop. I'm using a 8320, building with jde This works perfectly on the emulator as usual.
Snippet of the code i'm using:

 String url = "socket://" + _host + ":" + _port + ";interface=wifi;deviceside=true;";
                        System.out.println("Connecting to  "+url);
                        StreamConnection sockClient = null;
                        sockClient = (StreamConnection), Connector.READ_WRITE);
                         System.out.println("Connected to "+url);
I've done a trace on the server and wireshark does not see the connection coming in. I can browse the internet using wifi from the device, it's just when the app runs it does not connect and blocks on the open call.
I've also tried using a SocketConnection instead of StreamConnection with no change in behaviour.
I've also tried removing deviceside=true and changing it to false, with no luck.
Any ideas and thanks ahead of time.
