Question Can I send a command to a device?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
Is there I way that I could send a command to the BES to "rebuild" the address list on a particular device? I would want to basically delete the device's address list memory then resync with the server to get a new list.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
- Jeff Miller

I believe you would need to turn down address book sync on the device, clear the device's address book, then turn sync back up. This would cause the device to pull down whatever the server has, provided address book PIM sync is on at the BES.

hi,
thanks for your response! I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to using the device itself... how can I turn off the sync, clear the address book, and re-enable the sync?

regards,

On the device:
Address book>options>highlight and select the default address book, then select wireless syncronization>no

Connect the device to desktop manager, backup/restore>advanced>devices databases will list in the right panel. Select address book and clear.

On the device:
Address book>options>highlight and select the default address book, then select wireless syncronization>yes
