| | DEVELOPMENT REQUEST: a singular contacts / calendar system

So I'm encountering a situation that I believe a lot of BB users experience without thinking about it: duplicate contacts and calendar data within either a small company or family. My wife and I SHOULD have the same contacts info. Why have to keep duplicates that will eventually get out of sync from time to time? Also, our calendar needs to be the same as we're all involved with the same activities (or at least want to be aware of each others upcoming events). And I'm sure small businesses have these same issues...
What amazes me the more that I've looked into this is that there is very little to resolve this issue beyond some rather clunky and unsophisticated solutions. I, for instance, have to manually copy my contacts PST file from my PC to my wife's and resolve all conflicts before we re-sync our phones. I'd much prefer having to make a change from my phone and have her get the same changes OTA in real-time. The same goes for calendar information. Google Calendar can do some of this sort of thing but I'd like a single solution. And inviting attendees every time I make a new appointment is just a pain after a while.
I'd also like it to interface with Outlook on the desktop --especially for importing current data. I have nearly 400 contacts and just can't stand the idea of not being able to import them into Unite! or Google. Now I'm not opposed to what Unite! is offering (basically a poor-man's BES server running on a desktop) but the fact that it won't interface with existing standards or data really kills it. I mean, working with a PST or even CSV file would make life so much better. But if the PC it's running on crashes or I need to move it to another machine, I'm screwed. Hell, I could easily just grab an old laptop with a blown LCD and run in in the corner serving the data on my network 24-7 and be happy but I just don't think Unite! can do it...
So... Is what I'm hoping for a crazy / unrealistic idea? In essence, I'm looking for a more advanced / flexible version of Unite! (or at least I think I am). What the primary difference between what I'm hoping for and what is currently out there is that the email accounts would still be separate but the contacts and calendar data would be from a SINGLE account. I'm thinking of a name like "Singularity-Duality"... Am I nuts?!
