Default Trouble installing COD over the air -- 907 Invalid COD HTTP Error 406: Not Acceptable

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having trouble installing applications over the air. I can install applications on some devices without a problem. However, on other devices I get "907 Invalid COD HTTP Error 406: Not Acceptable"

To give a more concrete example.

I have two AT&T devices:

8110 Pearl - v4.3.0.93
8320 Curve - v4.2.2.89

The program I am using to diagnose the problem is the RIM HelloWorldDemo included in the JDE 4.5. Using the same SIM for both devices, I can load the program successfully on the 8110, but I get an error on the 8320.

Both devices appear to have the same internet settings.

It's the same file, from the same server, with the same SIM, so the issue appears to be device specific. It does not appear to be related to OS version since I have successfully installed the program on 8800 series devices with OS v4.2.1.x, and failed to install on another Pearl OS v4.3.x.x.

I have also tried other programs. I made sure to have an up to date JAD file sizes matched up and extracted the individual COD files from the parent COD. None of those files were larger than 64k. HelloWorldDemo certainly is not. None of it seems to make a difference.

Am I overlooking something?

Are you using the same browser on each device? On AT&T devices you could have 4.
Blackberry Browser
Internet Browser
MEdia Net
Hotspot Browser

The icon is labeled "Browser" and the Default Browser Configuration in Options-Advanced shows as "Internet Browser"

Post I had similar issues..

I had similar issue with my OTA deployment.

You will have to make sure that:

1) correct mimetype set in http server (for .cod and .jad file)
2) set the .cod and .jad file in the correct location on the http server (which is obviously done properly, judging by the error code)
3) clear the browser cache !

Number three has caused me a headache for two hours, because the Internet Browser did not re-query the server but used the already retrieved (and at the time it was first requested a faulty .jad/.cod file.

Hope I helped (somebody)

Unfortunately this was not my problem.

1 and 2 are set, since I was able to load the same files successfully on other devices. I just tried clearing the cache again, no change in the result.

Thank you for the reminder about the cache though. I've ran into many problems caused by file caching.
