Default Advanced Theme Development

I am new to theme development so please excuse any ignorance. I guess the main question is: Do you have access to calendar/message content from within Plazmic Composer?
I am using a 8320.
My goal is to create a today-like theme that shows the calendar and messages from the home screen both with 2 or 3 entries below each heading. Pretty standard so far. What I want to be able to do next is, as you scroll up/down using the scroll wheel you move between the entries. However, if at any given time you scroll left or right and your "focus" happens to be within the calendar entries, I want to scroll thru the calendar entries without having launched the calendar. I would also like to scroll thru messages the same way. Thanks for any replies.

Wirelessly posted (8800)

Nope, can't access the data in that way using Theme Builder. I haven't seen anything like that within Composer, either. It would probably take some serious java programming, and I'm not sure the RIM development tools allow access.
