| Advice: Verizon World Edition roaming data connection Please Login to Remove! I had a [sadly] very brief hands-on look at a Verizon 8830 world edition handset being used in the UK (local network being Vidafone UK). I could not get our Java client to connect to a test page and had tried lots of different APN/wap gateway/combinations. The owner of the handset could access the web using the handset browser and could send/receive emails, etc.
I checked for an non-encrypted IPPP service book (none), WPTCP/WAP2 service book (none) and, as i said, had tried various manually-entered settings to no avail. I am now wondering if the handset had a BIS-B stylee service book or encrypted IPPP (weak or otherwise) but the handset is no longer in my possession to check and the owner is on a plane somwhere.
So, has anyone had experience of connecting to the interwebz in Java using a Verizon account? What connection string did you use? deviceside=true with mds-public connection type? Can you get away with just deviceside=true?
Any advice on Verizon java http access would be appreciated. |
