Default Need help on custom context menus

Please Login to Remove!

Two quick questions...

- where's the best place to learn Blackberry development for someone who's had quite a bit of programming experience, but is kind of new to Java
- I'm currently working on a Blackberry app which has a custom field with a custom context menu associated with it. When someone selects a menu item, how can I access the contexts of the field?

Thanks!

1) I'd pick up a Java development book and read the chapters on variables, looping, program constructs, if...then, etc. Skip the chapters on UI, JDBC, J2EE, etc.

Then read thru RIM's Developer Guide. They are not great but they do give you a good intro to the device.

Third, look at their sample apps.

Lastly, dig in and build something.

2) I typically make the variable module level and the menu then has visibility of it.
