Default System time/date listener?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys, I'm a beginner bb java dev, and I'm trying to create an alarm type app that handles multiple different alarms for personal use/fun. I was hoping I could get some input on the best way to go about this. I feel like I'm going to need to run some kind of background process/listener that listens for when the date/time is equal to what the user inputs. Does such a "time listener" exist? Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Wow, thanks! That is just what I was looking for. Does my program have to be constantly running in the background for this to work? I've seen some other alarm apps that do this, but the blackberry alarm app that comes with the phone doesn't seem to be running in the background. Of course I could be wrong, I am basing my guess on the fact that it doesn't appear in the task switcher thing.

yep, for a listener to do notification, it needs to be in the runtime space, which necessitates that the app implementing it is running.

things like the alarm and mailbox folders, etc, are suppressed by the application manager but they are indeed always running, foreground or not
