Default Wiping Multiple BB Devices

Please Login to Remove!

I work in the IT division of a large organization which is constantly upgrading and changing Blackberry devices. We have accumiliated a large inventory of retired blackberrys which need to be wiped before they can be excessed. Is there a way to connect to a blackberry (probably via USB) and programmatically completely wipe (email, contacts, PII, etc) the device?

the javaloader utility has an option to wipe the connected device.
You can use the BES to wipe all devices at once.

BES is "BlackBerry Enterprise Server". Most large organizations with a big fleet of BlackBerry's use this network product to manage the devices.

Javaloader is a utility that is shipped with the BlackBerry JDE. It is really a developer tool that allows us to load software on the device when testing (among other things, like view the file system on the device or erase it).

To use javaloader, you also have to install the BlacBerry desktop product for your devices - it installs a USB driver that is required.

For me, simply entering the wrong password (if one is set) several times is the easiest way to quickly wipe the device.

Using Javaloader and was able to wipe a blackberry with no password in less than 1 second. If the blackberry has a password it is easy to write a short .cmd script file which uses javaloader to send a wrong password 10 times. The only problem I had with it was it made me press ENTER for the 10th password try then the .cmd script hung and I had to CTRL-C out of it. The positive side of it was that I could just plug in the BB and run the script from a shortcut while doing my regular work. Its not the prettiest scripting I've done but it gets the job done. Does anyone have an idea on how to prevent the hang after the final password?
