Hi,

I have a Blackberry app that I am setting up for a demo on a laptop. I moved the DB and Webservice used onto the local, ran on IIS from Windows XP.

To connect to the web service I use the PC name rather than IP address since it will not be connected to any networks. When I run the simulator the data being received from the web service is very very very slow, slower than it is from a real handset.

When running an operation to get data from the server i have a progress bar, this crawls up but as soon as I connect the ethernet cable to the PC it shoots up very fast. Why is this happening? What difference does connecting a network cable make?

Is the simulator making calls to DNS or some other name service trying to resolve the name?
