Browser Channel Push GUI?

I've searched and searched for a nifty little tool that will allow me to push any URL as a separate icon to devices in my environment but can't seem to find one. I'm not a developer, so making one myself is out of the question.

All I really want to do is take my web-based internal phone directory (www.mycompany.com/internalnumbers) and push it to selected devices connected to my BES.

A few parameters that I need to follow:
  • The directory list is for 5000+ employees and it changes daily
  • Not everybody on the BES wants the directory
  • It needs to be a separate custom icon on the banner screen of the device
  • Distribution tool needs to be in a GUI format
Anybody got a cool tool like that where I can point to the URL, enter the PIN/e-mail of the folks who want it, and [CLICK] to distribute?

Thanks,
DBB

Bump. Nothing folks? I thought somebody would jump at the chance to show off their unique work.

So i found an image of what I'm looking for in an old BlackBerry PPT presentation. Anybody know where I can d/l this from? It's exactly what I need: Enter the URL, title and the PIN of the recipient.

Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

I saw a demo of this last week, but for the life of me can't find the KB article or the GUI download.... still looking.

I *think* this might be what you're (we're) looking for....

Thanks Jules, but that ECL is crap. You have to continually update it and push out to your users. What I want to do is just push a channel icon that points to a specific URL.

Let's say I want to have it point to www.nfl.com/fantasy I can program it to do that and then push the icon. I can change the title, the url and the icon itself by changing it on the GUI.

I'm bringing the screen shot with me to WES and I'll try to pin down a RIM developer for the file.

Yea, that looked a little more advanced then the demo I saw last week. I emailed my Verizon rep to see if she can get information from the RIM guy that gave the demo. When I get a response I'll pass it along.

anyone found any info yet on this? I might ask our RIM rep as well, see if he knows anything about it

Dude, WES starts today. Be patient, I'll ask around with some of the RIM developers. Sheesh...

Darth,

I have the original code/demo that you are looking for. If you are still looking for it, PM me and I would be glad to send it to you.

Yeppers, thats the one. Many thanks to fbrimm for sending me the source code way before everybody else.
Rolling along great now.

mathieut 07-09-2009 02:26 PM

fbrimm - can I get a copy of this too?

We're looking in doing (I believe) the same and I'm hoping this code would help us out?
Does the demo show/explain how to use this?

Thanks!

fbrimm 07-09-2009 11:29 PM

mathieut,

If you go to the link spipedong provided (minus the spaces before blackberry and com) you can download the sample app from RIM. The article explains how to fill in the fields, but if you have any questions/problems let me know and I'll try to help.
