Hi,

One of our developer created an application using MDS Studio. The application has been push sucessfully to Blackberrys device. They used it for a few days. Then, I Started receiving call from some of them because the icons just disappeared by itself. The MDS Server is not aware that the application is gone on those blackberrys, and it is not working to try to push it again. In the MDS Control center on those Blackberry, it list no application installed.

I have done a few test, and I was able to duplicate the issue on my Blackberry. I Installed our MDS apps Icon via a push application... used it for a while. Then I simulate a Blackberry crash and pull out the Battery on my handheld. When the Blackberry restarted, that icon was missing...

Do you have any idea why it just disappeared? The others MDS apps are still installed.

For me I was able to install it again from the MDS Control Center, but the users that called me said that they were unable to install it again as MDS was returning an empty list of available application.

Any clue that could help me to fix this issue will be appreciate.

I've been having this problem for ages. Been hammering RIM about it, but as they are phasing this product out, it's difficult getting them to commit to help.

I've tried loads of experimentation with mixed results, but found it helps if the MDS policy settings are left to the defaults, in particular the 'Allow Discovery by User' setting.

We were also originally deploying the MDS Runtime OTA which caused the icon to disappear without fail. By re-installing the MDS Runtime via desktop manager seemed to cure it.

How do you install MDS Runtime? Also, do you have anything in the device event log (ALT+LG) ?

For most of our Blackberry, the MDS Run Time has been installed OTA.
Only a few had MDS Run Time installed via Desktop Manager, when we were unable to push it OTA,

I didn't take note of whom has been installed OTA or manually, so I can't say the issue happen only to those that received MDS Runtime OTA.

Those users using that MDS Application are Truckers, so I can't have access easily to their Blackberry as they are always moving... Hard for me to check the log file for each of them when that issue happen.

I found that sometime I am able to duplicate the issue by pulling out the battery of the blackberry. When the handheld reboot, Our MDS application icon is sometime missing. But the MDS Runtime Control Center is always there.

ON one of them there was this in the log file:
