Unhappy File Free Memory Usage

Please Login to Remove!

We have a small app. (64K .cod) that basically creates and sends an eMail with a photo attached.

After a reset, when I check File Free memory on my 8320 prior to running the app., it has around 2,100,000 bytes. After I run our app. and exit, it shows 1,500,000 bytes. After another run, it shows 900,000 btyes.

Basically, each use seems to eat up ~ 500Kb, eating up the performance on the device.

We are running System.gc() when we exit. We have also tried manually setting Strings, Bitmap and other objects to null prior to exit. Still the same results.

Is this normal? i.e. will garbage collection eventually release the memory, or does it mean that we have some objects that are "stuck"?

Wirelessly posted (MY 8900)

It sounds like whenever you open and use the app, it uses a resource. When u close it, the modules seem like they don't close which eats up the memory. When you open it again, it dupes the modules and eats up mem again. I'm not sure how to fix this however

We solved part of it. We were using the Spell Checker, and not destroying the objects, so that memory was getting hung. We are still looking for another 200K that keeps disappearing.

Anyone know of a memory tool for the device that would show what objects, etc. are in memory?
