Post How to start ?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Group,

I am trying to understand what would be the best way to achieve these goals:

We have an application running with web-services which allows the database to be queries and updated. My goal is to install a kind of notifier on blackberry which queries *maybe using RIM, if I am not mistaken and this is a black area for me too* the database using webservices and then replies back to flag the record as read or delivered.

My question.. what would be the best technology to use in order to achieve above goal and develop that notifier (again, it is kind like gmail notified but much more simplier .. you have one record.. if clicked, then a webservice is called) ? Where and how to start? Thanks

Hi,
You could start of with using the Blackberry plugin for visual studio and then may be you could just add say some sort of datagrid or something to show the list of records and then u could manipulate it from visual studio to show up symbols or checkboxes against records that were read( assuming that there is some sort of marker in your database that says a particular record was opened). This is as general as u cant get for the generalized question that you have asked..

Is it possible to use J2ME ? I mean, will I be able to communicate with webservices and J2ME on a blackberry? Does it support it?

Simply, I am looking for a language supporting webservices on blackberry? J2ME would be my fav if possible.
