Default blackberry simulator for testing won't display web pages.

Please Login to Remove!

I just installed a 9500 simulator and an mds runtime environment 4.1.2.17 on my windows xp. The simulator accepts the web address and the "requesting" bar advances, but the web page is never downloaded.
Is it that I need a little piece of software that Java Sun systems used to donate, but now requires you to buy? I was wondering if someone has a sure fire way to set up a Blackberry simulator on a PC. Or does Browsershots or some other website have one?
thank you,
sifaka

For one thing, you are running a back-level of MDS (I think too far back for the 9500).

Can you see the request details in the MDS window?

So I've installed the 8320 smartphone siimulator, and upgraded the mds to 4.1.4. but as for the request details in the mds window, umm, do you mean the command line log window?

yes.

You should see the requests inbound from the device and outbound to the URL.

If not, then the simulator may not be connecting to the MDS-CS program.

Also, are you behind a proxy? If so, then MDS should be configured differently.

There is no action in the MDS window, just "statistics save task finished 5 rows inserted". Also, I am requesting "yahoo.com" so would that mean I am behind a proxy? If I make the URL "localhost" I receive the same "unable to connect the MDS..." message. Can this be fixed simply by configuring the MDS?

I've looked at the config folder in the rimpublic.property file, but I don't know how to configure it correctly. Also, the installation of the MDS warns me that I'm missing a "prerequisite", a JDK JSE piece of software. Uh huh. Is there a simple way to install a blackberry simulator?
Thanks

You need to have the correct JRE/JDK installed, if that is what you mean.

Whatever the missing software is, I guess you'd better install it.

Also MDS does not allow you to connect to localhost, nor 127.0.0.1 - this will always fail. You can alias the URL in your hosts file, or go after the actual IP address for the system.
