Default New Application Ideas - look at popular Palm programs - 10-18-2006, 09:21 PM

Something like Memoleaf (Palm program) would be great. Anything which would extend the functionality of BB MemoPad without screwing up sync to Outlook.

Something which would allow you to store and access Word .doc, .rtf or HTML pages on the BB Pearl's MicroSD card. If I were a developer, I would look at iSilo, WordSmith and Smartdoc for ideas. Many current BB users came from the Palm platform.

I used to keep html versions of reference material (Fed. Rules of Evidence, Fed. Rules of Civil Procedure) on my Palm Tungsten E. I'd love to have that functionality again.

3. Addition of extra elements to a profile (over and above BB profiles) - e.g. a profile also has a home page image associated with it, maybe even a theme!

4. Schedule-linked profiles. Eg Automatic selection of a profile the the duration a calendar item shows time as "busy". Then revert back to previous profile.

A robust implementation of 1 would be great on its own

pretty sure it's not possible to programatically change profiles, not tried it but am sure this has come up before and was found to be imposible.

Something like a customizable screensaver, where the user can put information like weather, news, new messages, RSS, stock, etc

A way to have an automated ping running in the backgroud from the phone to any IP address specified, how often as specified so I could see if my Internet connection or high availability server or whatever I want has gone awry. Then make a sound or something to let me know the IP address the phones pings lets say once an hour has stopped responding.

Grab Contact Details from email or SMS. Similar to the LinkedIn "Grab" feature on their toolbar, this application would permit you to highlight, click, grab and auto-create a new contact based on the data that is highlights (name, title, phone, email, company, address, etc.)

there should also be a trash box in messages so if you accidentally delete a message its not gone forever, and a application in which u can assign a application to a letter key (ex. opera mini just press the letter o and it will come up)

As you may know BB, does not show the name of the Caller if his name is in phone book with Country code. for EG if a name is Stored "XYZ" and his number stored as "+919821089977", if the call shows "09821089977", this name will not display. If you can make an app to overcome this, lot of people would be interested. You can scan the forum and see many people have the same issue.

hey mediabb, when you say "we" how many are you talking about? me and some friends are getting ready to work on an app, so if your group isn't too big and want to work on something maybe we could talk ...

and as a side note, this isn't the app i'm talking about, but if someone could ever pull off an app that changes your voicemail based on the user calling then that would be awesome ... not sure if that's possible from a developers side though

anyways, let me know about the first thing i mentioned! cheers!

I'd like a program that would allow you to type more than 160 characters in an SMS, automatically break the text up into multiple texts, and send them sequentially automagically.

How about a phone call recorder? I need to capture details callers give me while I'm driving or have my hands too full to take notes.

Default New App - 05-09-2009, 06:07 AM

At work my phone has to be on silent, and when I get off, I always forget to put the ringer back on. I think it would be a good idea to have an app that will allow you to set the type of ringer mode depending on the time of the day. I could set my phone to vibrate or silent from 8am to 5pm on weekdays, or customize it in anyway I want to.

Also it would be great if we have a theater mode. This mode will automatically put the phone on vibrate and dim the screen to the lowest level so when you check your phone or I to send a text, the bright screen will not bother anyone else.
