One that allows you to change the time when you travel and update your calendar. There are a couple of programs for Palm that offer this capapbility. It may be a limitation in the BB.

Maybe one that will list tasks by categories (just like the simple Palm OS To-Do) without using "filter" function to do this...and this program should integrate with the BB's Task app so that we don't have to re-input all the tasks in this new app.

A general-purpose list program, like ListPro for Palm and PPC.

I haven't crossed time zones since I have had my BB, are you saying the Date/Time Source set to "Network" won't change the time automatically as you move from one time zone to the next?

Default idea? - 12-14-2005, 12:43 PM

I'd like to see someone take advantage of the gps to track on a map a path and keep a running rate of travel and distance.

Basically, I run random or offroad paths and would like to see how far I traveled and it what time I did it in as well as see the path overlaid on a map/satellite image.

Thanks.

A new app from the makers of PocketDay will take care of lists...custom lists with your own fields and lists from pre-defined templates. Alarms with snooze functionality and more...

An app that will allow you to change Profiles based on time of day that you set...just like a similar app for Treo 650 called "ProfileCare" (http://gotreosoftware.com/index.php)

How about an app to turn the screen off (to extend the battery just a bit). It's just like putting the BB into the plastic holster.

More robust calendaring. Right now, the calendar on the BB is pretty pathetic.

I'm demo'ing it now. It's nice. I'm not sure that it solves the calendaring problem - things like linking contacts/memos/tasks/appts. together. If you've ever used a pocket pc, I'm thinking something like PocketInformant (the PIM app against which all others should be judged).

Default Corporate App - J2ME Midlet for Wireless Global Address List Synchronisation - 12-19-2005, 07:39 AM

Don't even begin to ask how we ended up doing this but we have been synchronising a cut down version of our Global Address List with the handheld using Public Folders and Desktop Manager. The problem we have is that BES 4 won't wirelessly synchronise with a Public Folder, therefore, an application to do to this would be useful.

helo! glad to hear you are willing to develop apps for BB! I think a killer app, highly sought after would be to allow installing applications on a BB from a MAC and somethign that will let Mac users tether their BBs as a Modem. I dont think either should be too difficult, since its already possible on Windows...???? and the BB runs on JAVA (please correct me if i am wrong) and Java is supposed to be platform independent...???????

there are other apps which I can think of but are more niche. Mostly rooted in teh film industry. Let me knwo if you are interested in developing such stuff...

You know I actually just noticed this since going from 4.0 to 4.1 with the Hong Kong CSL. I have a 7100t with TMO and I never saw (at least that I can remember) and option to set the time between "Network" and "Blackberry" when I had the OS 4.0? I know I had the BB with me when I travled for soccer last summer in and out of time zones and I was really surprised that a device like this didnt change time zones automatically like most (all) cell phones do. I had to switch the time manually. I am not sure now what the option was on 4.0 but I am curious to see if someone running 4.0 yet could check that out ( I say that like hey go drive between time zones in your spare time...lol) and see if that is something they upgraded in 4.1.

Here is one that is pretty useless but I have seen on other phones. I used to have a Sprint N400 (yes that is old and I hate Sprint). During the day the background would be a nice "Daytime" background like a field and skyline. Once it reached a certain time of night, the background would change to a "night-time" background with stars and the moon. I have two good backgrounds but no way of setting the phone to auto change the background pic at a certain time. Like I said...useless app for most, but would be cool.

Are you talking like a slide-show kindof thing? That would be cool. I have a lot of good background pics and find myself constantly switching them.

You know. I always come up with little (sometimes uselss) things that would be cool to see on the device. Things other phones/pda's have done that would increase productivity/fun with the BB. But, I have zero knowledge in taking these ideas and turning them into a tangible, useful product. Maybe I should be working for NTP?

Yeah BB Corrector is cool for emails. But it would be cool to have one that works with SMS.

How about an app that tracks monthly bandwidth usage so that users have a better knowledge of where they are vis-a-vis the soft caps that some carriers put on their "unlimited" accounts?

(See http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=2640).

All it would need to do is let the user tell the app what the start date of their billing cycle is and then keep track of traffic to & from the handheld.. I'm not an application developer (or a programmer..), so I'm not sure of how difficult this would be... but I would think accuracy within a few megs would be very helpful to have.

Feel free to PM or email me if you are developing or want to develop an app like this and want beta testers/feedback/etc.

Smile life savior.. Need programming help!! - 02-05-2006, 02:19 AM

HI there The Shark Team

I see that you have being asking for programing ideas, blackberryforums.com.

PLEASE help us!!

We have an extensive featured Intranet system IntranetSites.com (click here for details), but presently with no real way to have it synchronize our data to Palm, pocket pc or Blackberry users

Perhaps you can help us by building a program to display our existing outlook type data on the blackberry??

How about a program that allows you to make folders to put icons in? Also what about not sure if program above can do but override the BB screen and only have the pocketpc look. Again not sure if Pocket Day does that or not

Default SMS Sending App - 03-03-2006, 12:39 PM

Since we know that the 7100i can receive SMS/text, how about an app to send SMS/text messages using Contacts from the address book or information in memopad.

How about a turn by turn navigation app that uses Greystripe's Caffine and Foodfinder Location X platform. Greystripe are you watching ??

How about an app or addin to Pocket Metro that would tell you what train station (subway, light rail, commuter train, etc) is close to you by entering an address.

eg. 100 Rockaway Parkway, Brooklyn, NY= Rutland Rd/Sutter Ave. #3 train

Brooklyn, NYC

Hey Techker,

That's a good question. Well we're working a few projects right now, but "not really" any of things above. At this point we have a few ideas, but lack man power. I'm sure there's somebody's out there working on something. Where's the developers? Perhaps no one has really found the market for the app suggestions above. What's your take?
