Question Programmattically disable "new email" alert

Please Login to Remove!

I'm working on a piece of software for BB which, as part of it's operation plays a list of short audio files, one after the other. If the user receives an email (or sms) while the audio is playing, the audio cuts out so the "new email" chime can sound. The audio that was playing is canceled outright and my process goes on to play the next piece of audio in the queue.

I'd like to know if there's a way to disable the audio for the "new message alert" temporarily while my short piece of audio plays (or to maybe capture the event, add it to my audio processing queue to play it as soon as my current audio is done, then go on the play my next piece of audio) ?

Thanks in advance!

May try a hack around this problem:

Register for AlertListener/AlertListener2 and once you get midiDone or audioDone alert, then you can check the time elapsed since the audio was started versus the audio actual timespan. This should be done for the audio files you are playing.
