Interesting.

BlackBerry Overtakes Apple in Mobile Wars - StatCounter - FierceMobileContent

Quote:
BlackBerry OS overtook Apple's iOS for the first time in the US in November in terms of mobile internet usage according to web analytics company, StatCounter. The company's research arm, StatCounter Global Stats finds that for the first time in the US BlackBerry OS at 34.3% overtook Apple's iOS which recorded 33% in November.

Google's Android is rapidly gaining and has almost tripled internet market share from 8.2% last November to 23.8% this year. Apple's iOS has fallen from 51.9% to 33% over the same period.
I have to wonder if RIM bypassing iOS is more due to Android taking off, rather then RIM's actual increase.

Global stats for the last year:

What counts as "mobile internet usage"?
From the likes of this article, it seems they are looking at website traffic logs for their data.
That leads me to believe that these numbers are based solely on handheld Browser usage.

iPhone apps and Android apps are EXPLODING with popularity and do just about anything that you would previously do with a a web browser.
If that taken into consideration with these numbers? I'm guessing no.

I can't possibly see how RIM is gaining anything on iPhone or Android in any way.
