Yes, you need to apply for access to the push service. Then a user can subscribe to your push channel, your content provider server will be given the subscribers' PINs. You can then push content to a single PIN, a list of PINs, or all subscribers.

Thanks hrbuckley.

When client application registers with BIS it doesn't send device pin and Subscriber ID to BIS.
but In sample application there is pushing content using subscriber Id not Device PIN.

how BIS know to push content to particular device using subscriber ID.

When we register client application with PushInitiator does PushInitiator sends
Client Device details to BIS?

pls help me in this.Thank u

If you are using the sample server code, look at the database, you will find the PIN stored there for each subscriber. The BIS server doesn't need to be told what the PIN is, it knows from the connection between the Blackberry and the BIS. This is sort of the same as a web server doesn't need to be told the browser's IP address because it can get it from the TCP/IP connection.

The client needs to register a subscription to your push channel with the BIS server, the content provider can not do that. The content provider (and clients) can suspend, resume and un-subscribe a client. This way the client can't be subscribed to channels he doesn't want, and providers do not have to service clients they don't want.

All of this is taken care of by the sample client and server programs, have a look at them, you will get much more information than I can provide here.
