8520 App Information / Help
I have a general chat forum run by MyBB (forum software) and it uses a MySQL database to store thread/post information, usernames, passwords and basically everything for logging in with and starting threads.

I have some questions regarding making an app for my 8520.

1. Can an app be made to show latest posts/threads made by members?

2. In the same app, could announcements be made to show at the top? Announcements would be pulled from a specific category/section.

3.Have an option for members to login, to be able to do question 1 above. Usernames and Passwords would be pulled from the users table in the database.

That's what I have to ask just now. Design for the app would not matter, as I can make the icons/theme or whatever graphic is needed.

How would I go about getting started on this? Or could anyone tell me how much it would cost to get one made?

If you are not a Java developer, then you have a pretty steep learning curve. I'd also question the advisability of doing this in Java, since the next rev of the BB phones will not support Java (it's end of life).

You could probably attempt this with a web application, which would also be usable on the new BB OS10 phones. Or you might use the new BB C++/QNX platform to develop it.

All of what you said is possible, but requires you to know how to program quite well. First off all you will to know Java/C++/JavaScript&HTML5...Also, you may need to know PHP as well to pull data from the database on request. This isn't an easy task and there isn't a way to do this in a couple of hours, even if you are an experience developer.
