Default identifying blackberry in web-application - 02-08-2006, 12:42 PM

Hi all,

I want do develop a web-application with Apache and PHP for our Blackberry devices. I found a possibility to identify the device by its email-address on a web-page here . But I don't know where to configure my BES so that my devices send this information.
Any hints are appreciated!

Regards
Daniel

This is actually configured in the BlackBerry Browser, under the "Emulation" setting.

Thanks,

Thanks for your answer Mark!
But if I try to change my options for "Emulation" I only can choose between "save options" and "close", my BlackBerry does not allow me to change these options in any way. Maybe I have to enable this feature?

This is done in the rimpublic.property file on the BES server (actually, this is part of MDS).

Search for this file - it should be in something like C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\Blackberry Enterprise Server\MDS\Servers\<your instance name>\Config.

Add the line:

application.handler.http.header=pin

or

application.handler.http.header=pin,email

Then you have to restart MDS (not BES, just MDS).

You also have to use the Blackberry Browser, not the Internet Browser, and you have to set the Blackberry Browser "Conent Mode" option to "HTML only". If it is set to WML or "WML & HTML", you don't get back the PIN or email address in the headers for some reason.

Just FYI:
I found out by chance that in my configuration (wherever it differs from yours) the PIN and email address are being send also in "WML & HTML" configuration...
