The problem I have is that when I go to

Managed Connections and Set up Wi-Fi Network

I get the "Hotspot Client Installation" prompt. Is there anyway to bypass this dialog box?

I want to get a list of available hotspot networks, both free and encrypted.
I don't want to connect to any of the networks. Just need to print this info to the log on blackberry.

Sounds like your BlafkBerry has the ability to function as a hotspot for other devices to use, and that is what you are turning on, and not turning on the wifi radio to connect to a router or hotspot.

What actual model and OS version do you have?
