Default MDS Emulator and internet connectivity - 07-24-2006, 09:31 AM

I searched for this question because I assumed it must have been answered a million times before, but wasn't able to find anything. I hope I'm not duplicating anything.

Anyway, I'm developing web pages for blackberrys, and would like to use the RIM Blackberry emulator. I installed it but couldn't get internet access. I then googled; found the error of my ways, and installed the MDS emulator.

Unfortunately this didn't fix anything.

When I try and run it, the .bat tries to execute:
Code:
java -classpath !BMDS_CLASSPATH!;!BMDS_CLASSPATH2!;!BMDS_CLASSPATH3! -DKeystore.Password=password net.rim.application.ipproxyservice.IPProxyServiceApplication -log.console.dump
And it returns this:
Code:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: net/rim/application/ipproxyservice/IPProxyServiceApplication
FYI:
Code:
Z:\>java -version
java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode)
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Aidan.

Are u in Network or Standalone PC.

Dont forget to open MDS console, while you try to access internet via emulator.

What is the error message that shows on device screen, when u browse internet?

Did you ever compare Affrican Elephants and Sri Lankan Elephants?
Where are classic Elephants?

Default fixed - 07-26-2006, 09:18 AM

I fixed it. The problem was that the bat file that starts the MDS was generating environment variables that contained all the jar files. Then it tried to start the program unsing the contents of the variables, but instead of using %var% it used !var!.

I can't understand why they would do something like this. Anyway, I fixed it.

Thanks.
