Default Pushing bookmark links to BB ?? - 07-26-2006, 05:00 PM

I am trying to figure out a way to be able to push a bookmark link to several blackberries. I am aware of browser push and channel push, but i'm not sure how to incorporate that into something i can use to modify or create a bookmark in the browser. Does anyone know how to do this or have any ideas ?

Thanks

I think i'm going to take this one step at a time. I am trying to run the sample apps from the Blackberry JDE 4.0.2, specifically the BrowserPushDemo.
Everything seems to be running fine. I get no errors but the nothing happens. Isn't something suppose to happen on the device simulator window. I do see the message coming through the MDS Simulator window, but thats about it.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Actually I think I didn’t get ur problem, anyway I suggest something,

If u wants to push a link for a page (URL), say page URL is "http://locahost/test.html" and u can push it to device.]

Then icon is appeared on devise and when u clicks on it that page is loaded to device.

What u mean by Bookmark? Is it URL?

Ultimately, the original goal was to have a bookmark pushed to several users blackberry. Basically, they users will have a new bookmark in their browser without them lifting a finger. Thats what we originally wanted to do, but this seems easier said then done. Thats why i was playing around with the BrowserPush.java program from the samples in the Blackberry JDE. I was trying to see if I can push the actual page in stead and have them bookmark it. If their is another easier way, i'm open to listen.

Also I was thinking of doing a message push with the URL but, i cannot get the simulator to do anything. I do a message push and the push runs successfully, but nothing happens in the simulator. Any ideas ?

Thanks

Ok,
1st can you push a simple .txt file to simulator via Browser-Channel-Push ?

say, txt file locate in ur D: drive and using push application push it into simulator. Then an icon appeared in simulator screen and when u click it that txt file is load.

So can u do it?
Are u familier with Push?

As 2nd step try to push bookmark.

Why said "i cannot get the simulator to do anything." what the problem?

No but i've been trying to push a webpage on my localhost to the simulator and to no avail. The example(Browser Push Demo) should show something in the simulator window but nothing comes up. MDS Simulator Sees the push being processed but nothing happens in the device simulator. I am familiar with the Push types but have not yet had experience doing them since i've recently started developing apps for the blackberry.
