Default IS there a way to develop of SMS program similiar to the Treo - 09-28-2006, 08:29 AM

I thought I would start another thread since the other one was a thread about where to look to learn how to program for the BB.

Ever since I had a Treo 650 no other phone can compare to it's SMS application..those of us who have used one can see where I'm coming from, I text alot and that program was nice. Now the blackberry is closer than just about any other phone that I have used but there still are a few things that it doesn't do.

The threaded messages work nice but on the Treo it showed up in the main folder with the name/number of the person you are talking to just once instead of all the messages like the blackberry does, and then once you open it, it would show both the conversations from you and that person like a chat window which the Blackberry does. Smiley's where a nice thing to have on there and I found a application (Berricons) that will let me insert them in a text message and have spoke with them about the application and the updated the application to work with text messages along with emails, but they stated that BB's text program will only allow text and not a graphic. To have the graphic show up would be nice..Treo's do that, SE phones do it, and some Nokia phone's I believe does it...you would think that the all powerful Blackberry would be able to do this. I'm sure there are a few more things that I'm missing from the Treo's SMS app but those are the two that I would really like to see on the BB SMS app...getting closer with the Berricons program but not quite there with the threaded messages and the graphics....

Any input on if someone knows how to add them, or has tried and couldn't get it to work or anything would be helpful...I will continue to read and learn all that I can and then take a stab at it...

Thanks
Brian
