Using the SyncItem seems to be the easiest way to achieve data backup to a PC. However, all the guides, such as Livelink - Redirection say only to use SyncItem for small amounts of data, and to use the other sync interfaces when backing up more data.

Why should the syncItem only be used for small amounts of data, and how much data is 'too much?', and you should start using the interfaces instead?
