Has anyone successfully communicated with an external system via UDP on the BlackBerry? Reason I ask is all the list of APNs in the FAQ section indicate they support TCP/IP. Does UDP/IP work also?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

UDP only available through APN provided proxy? -
03-18-2007, 10:52 AM
After doing some forum searches it appears that UDP on the BlackBerry devices is only available through a APN provided proxy. Meaning that the connectivity between the BlackBerry device and the APN is always TCP/IP and the proxy must provided a UDP proxy. Is this correct?
Does this help? I had started looking into how to send a UDP packet from the Blackberry but I got side tracked by another project and haven't investigated it any further than this post I made.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I did find that thread. I believe that UDP is not directly supported on the BlackBerry device. It appears (based on what I have read) that UDP must be proxied at the carrier APN. Does this sound right?
