Default Display Stack Manipulation

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know how to access the screen display stack itself instead of having to manipulate it through pushScreen and popScreen? I want to override pushScreen to paint a new screen but not add anything new to the display stack, because of the background thread maintenence. Thanks!
