Question Trademarking Developed Works

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all. I am new to blackberry development and had a question regarding something related to software development...trademarks and copyrights

I am developing an app for the blackberry, and I have a good name picked out for the app, as well as good idea for how I am going to build the application. So my questions for everyone are:

1. Would it be beneficial to register a trademark for the name of my application with uspto.gov?
2. Would it be beneficial to copyright my blackberry application?

I just wanted to see what others thought about this, and vendors, if you can, please chime in. I am looking to get into the blackberry development arena, but am a noob in the "business" portion of it. I just need some others opinions on this if you can offer it. Greatly appreciated in advance. Thanks all!

So you mean to tell me that no one protects the software that they write for the BB?

We trademark and copyright all of our applications. I highly suggest you do the same if you plan on making this your business. You should really seek the advice of a business professional for this type of thing. Most of the people on here can only help you with the technicals not the business end.

Thanks 4 the feedback. I am kind of new to the world of copyrighting and trademarking, but really want to get into the development game with the BB. I am hoping to turn some heads with my great ideas to be released soon. Thanks.
