Default Invoking one application from another

Please Login to Remove!

I have created two applications.

first app is listining to push msgs and prompts user if any msg arrives.
If the user wishes to launch second app, it should be invoked.

Is it possible to invoke an application from some different application?

Default use push registry

u can do it using push registry which i am struggling with. iam working on the same application and it works very fine on any other device than BB. BB though it supports MIDP2.0, it does'nt seem to be supporting PushRgistry on socket/ datagram. and as per the documentation by sun, push registry can be used on socket, datagram and sms protocols. so if u want the same effect in ur BB application too, u need to use BBpush using http and u can find example code in the JDE4.1.

hope it helps u. else if u find a solutions using push registry, do let me know too.

should be possible if you use similar code listed in item3 here: Blackberry Web Shortcut Programming

ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager().runAppl ication(ApplicationDescriptor);

although i've not tried it with anything other than native apps, check the javadoc for usage.

Hi jfisher,

I was just reading that article on your website "Blackberry Web Shortcut Programming". You mention that pre-4.1 OS people couldn't use the BrowserSession method: displayPage(String url)

According to the RIM API documentation I'm looking at this is available in the 4.0 OS. Is the documentation lying (wouldn't be a first for RIM) or is this a mistake?

Cheers,
eZainny.

the mistakes probably mine - maybe it was introduced in 4.0, luckily we only develop for post4.2 devices now though - so i don't have to worry about it :P
