Default software distribution: 2 versions, how to?

Please Login to Remove!

First of all, i am aware of the fact that software distribution is kind of buggy in some cases.
One of our customers uses it nontheless and it works well for our application.
We need to install a second, slightly modified, version on a second group of devices.

Problem: The BES 'sees' only one version.
I tried renaming the program (added a '_v' at the end) but there is still only one version shown.

How can i get the BES to distinguish between the two versions?

simon,

Are you using BES 4.1? If so, then this functionality is broke. RIM is working on fixing the problem.

Prior to BES 4.1, multiple versions of the same app were allowed by manipulating the alx file. BES 4.1 ignores the alx file and "sees" that both versions are using the exact same modules and doesn't allow more than one.

If you changed your module names, which is essentially building a brand new app, then it will allow both.

Or you could create a second software configuration for the other group of devices.
