Default HelloWorld App

Please Login to Remove!

I am learning java and I found a webpage that walked you through a HelloWorld sample app. I am having problems getting this to run now

Here is the web link:
Build Your First BlackBerry Java App

When I build and run the app, I get the following error

Building HelloWorldProject
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.2.1\bin\rapc.exe -quiet import=..\lib\net_rim_api.jar codename=HelloWorldProject HelloWorldProject.rapc warnkey=0x52424200;0x52435200;0x52525400 "C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.2.1\bin\HelloWorld.java" "C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.2.1\bin\SalutationScreen.java"
I/O Error: Cannot run program "javac": CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified
Error while building project

Can someone please help me, I don't know what I am missing. I can email the workspace if need. Also are there any go sites that could help beginners like myself, also and books I could buy.

Thanks
Jim

Seems like your java compiler isn't in your system path variable.

Hi topper,

BlackBerry JDE 4.2.1 requires that you have installed Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition v1.5. Then you will need to add the bin directory in the j2se installation to your system PATH variable.

Now, try to build and run your project.

Cheers,
ARIF

Hi,
I followed the tutorial, and had the helloworld application compiled and running in the simulator. But when I use JDE to generate .alx and install the application onto my Blackberry, my Blackberry totally crashes. Have to wipe the whole thing out.
Am I missing something?
