I have a doubt, wanted to know if jsr 172 is compatible with blackberry 8800 and 8100.

there's not a full implementation - but there is a nice sax parser which is very quick. i think full jsr172 is due in the 4.3 os - some developers are using ksoap for their webservices but i've recently dropped it and written my own small class as ksoap is a large overhead.
