Default Split Pipe questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I'm pretty new to blackberry development and I'm trying to better understand the split pipe issue. I believe I understand the idea behind it; not allowing an internal connection to the corporate network behind the firewall while allowing a tcp connection outside the firewall. However, I was hoping someone could answer some additional questions:

1. On older devices getting a split-pipe meant having to refresh the device. Is this the same on newer devices such as the 8100 or 8800? or does it depend upon the device software version?

2. Will a split pipe only occur if a TCP and BES connection attempt occur simultaenously? Or will just using one connection type, followed by the other cause the split pipe?

3. Can a BES and bluetooth connection cause a split pipe?

4. Can a BES and BIS connection cause a split pipe?

If someone could provide some feedback on these questions plus any additional info about this issue that would be great.

Thanks,
