Post Some questions... - 10-20-2005, 12:51 PM

I'm always interested in hosted BES (I like the synched calendars/contacts). However, I have the following questions

1. I have my own POP3 server so I suspect I would need your Exchange server to poll that POP server and gather my email - correct?

2. As I have my own domain emails I send will need to be 'from' my own domain not yours - can be done?

3. If I want the full featured Outlook at home on my machine you supply that?

4. My standalone Outlook .pst file is about 500MB. Can I keep a local replica of all my emails/contacts/calendar entries so I don't have to pay surcharges for my information?

Look forward to hearing from someone...

A1 - in order to use Hosted BES, you will have to have your mail on our server. You have a few options. The easiest method is to simply stop using your pop server, and make an MX record change, so your mail goes straight to our servers.

Option 2 - Just put a forward on your e-mail address to forward your mail to our servers.

Once you have established a domain and e-mail address on our servers, you can also use Outlook 2003 to poll any and all POP3 accounts, and pull them down to our server.

A2 - Yes, all mail when it is sent from our servers will look like it came from your domain. Nobody will know the difference. It will display and show exactly as it does now..

A3 - Yes, all paying customers get a free copy of Outlook 2003 to use with our service.

A4 - Also Yes, you can accomplish this in 2 ways -
1 - nce the new Outlook profile is created, you can export from your old profile ( all old mail ) into a personal folder on the new profile. Personal folders are kept locally on your machine, and so they are not counted towards the quota on our servers.

2 - You can archive. The archives are still stored on our server, but they are not counted twards your quota. All mail is still easily accessable.

I hope this answers your questions -

I'm sure you're interested in knowing if they are established. They are.

Frankly, I don't really care how many customers they have. Anytime I need something, it feels like I'm the only one. That's what sells me.

Kudos to Exchange My Mail! I decided to move over from 1and1.com and my Exchange acct there to exchangemymail. The whole process was super easy and when I had trouble I emailed them and got super fast replies. AND, on a Sunday!

I agree with kitmoni...I feel like I'm their only customer which is well worth the price of admission.

I use BlackBerry Hosting from Skyfillers in Germany.
They provide full BES functionality.
With the BlackBerry Hosting account I also had to order a Hosted Exchange Account.
Microsoft Outlook 2003 license included.
I ordered Hosted Exchange Light with 500 MB size for 9,99 € - I think that price is really ok - and the service is very nice and friendly!

They provide the service worldwide, their website is only in Danish and German - but the employess at skyfillers also speak english I think.

Have a look at it:
BlackBerry Hosting:
http://www.skyfillers.com/Hosted_Bla...hosting.0.html

Hosted Exchange:
http://www.skyfillers.com/Hosted_Exchange.847.0.html

I hope that helps someone....
Me and my company saved a lot of money instead of investing in Exchange, BlackBerry Enterprise Servers and the service/support for it.

If I subscribe to the Exchange My Mail service will it also check my secure exchange email through OWA and push that to my phone, like tmobile was able to do before their software upgrade? Or could the included copy of Outlook 2003 check that account and synch it with the Exchange My Mail account somehow?

morganjt -

I am not sure i understand your question. OWA is short for Outlook Web Access which is provided to all Exchange My Mail customers at no additional charge. It is a feature of Microsouft Exchange. Once you are connected to our Exchange server, all mail will be sync'd with your BB in real time.

Hope that helps.

Add me to the list of new users of this fine service. As others have stated, Dave's support is excellent. During my initial setup he was right there with me, emails were answered promptly, and the setup (after working through MX issues on my end) was flawless.

Great service and glad I found it!

Hi, we're running an ExchangeServer 2003 on Windows Server 2003. I have about 10 users inside my office. According to our own rules, as divorce lawyers, the security of our privileged information is extremely important. We have opposing parties and attorneys who will, on occasoin, go to extreme measures to establish denial of service hacks or attempt breakins. But integration with BES is important too, and I'm not about to purchase a BES license.

I wonder whether our Exchange Server could be setup as a back-end to yours, to store messages in our own domain and forward messages to your server for routing to my Blackberry.

Steve, Yes we could set you up as a "split domain". This means that all the mail will continue to go directly to your servers, your server would then retain a copy ( if you want ), then forward the message to us. Once on our server, you will have ability to see those messages on our server via Outlook Client, Outlook WebAccess and the Blackberry.

I hope this helps.

Dave:

I've had problems with spam as I seem to get my email pushed to my BB first before it goes through Outlook where my spam software catches most of the spam. Would I be able to eliminate this prob on your hosted exchage and bes server setup?

Thanks,

Scott

Scott - Yes. The way this would be done on our end is to have you also signup for the Postini advanced spam and virus filter. This way spam and viruses will be stopped at the server level.

Default Exchangemymail.com=Awesome! - 08-12-2006, 10:35 AM

I had read some of the feedback on this site regarding exchangemymail.com and I can say without a doubt that they are even better than people describe. My Dad has a single person law firm, but wanted a Blackberry. There was talk of getting him a Treo with Verizon's wireless sync, but after reading all of the negative reviews of the Treo we decided that was a bad route. I stumbled across exchangemymail and now we not only have Blackberry BES, but so much more. The spam filtering will be invaluable, along with the ability for him to access his e-mail from any computer (not only outlook web access, but full outlook access). The best part is that exchangemymail has the best customer service I have seen in years. I had some problems (due to Outlook 2007=bad) and they worked with me, well into the night, for hours until it was resolved.

If you have a small business and want the same competitive advantage of big business, spend the few bucks a month for exchangemymail. This is a must have for any business.

Greg,

Thanks for the excellent Feedback; I may quote you in our next advertisement "If you have a small business and want the same competitive advantage of big business, spend the few bucks a month for exchangemymail. This is a must have for any business"

Also Thanks for bringing up an excellent subject (Outlook/Office 2007)

What a nightmare, but between a few remote desktop sessions with Greg and prior to that some of my own experiences with 2007 we have figured out how to get back to 2003.

If you are currently using 2007 (exchangemymail does not support it) (but will help to the best of our abilities) and you want to go back to using 2003, you will first need to back up anything you want to save. Once everything is backed up/exported/saved, you are going to want to completely uninstall 2007, then completely uninstall 2003, then install a fresh copy of 2003.

We had originally thought that you'd be able to use 2003 once 2007 is removed.... WRONG, we also thought that you'd simply be able to run the repair to get 2003 working.... WRONG....

So completely uninstall '07 and '03 then re-install '03 from scratch.

GOOD LUCK!!

Enzo-

Sorry that I have not been back on to give you folks an update, but as you can imagine things have been a little hectic.

Anyway I wanted to give you folks a bit of an update on the situation.

All systems are running normally again.

On a side note I want to thank you folks for the excellent responses, for the most part your responses to our outage was a positive one. Your responses to our offer to move over to our new system have been overwhelming. Exchange My Mail appreciates your loyalty and trust.

I signed up for ExchangeMyMail because of the posts in this forum and have been very satisfied. The tech support is excellent. For example, I've wiped my 8700 several times this week, and every time I got a new activation password in less than 10 minutes.
