Now that you have opened it an "orange shop" won't touch it as the warranty is void. Sounds to me that a capacitor has blown due to a faulty charger. Get yourself a replacement donor phone with a smashed screen or something and use the motherboard out of it and get a new charger and battery.

If it is within warranty period better take it to the nearby service center and replace it.

If you are happy with the 8520 and you can repair it for less than buying a replacement, that is fine. Just from reading the forums, however, it sounds like more trouble than it's worth, at least it would seem that way for most. Different strokes.

I agree these are not the "fastest" phones but they are able to run opera mini with no problems. Try a handset wipe mate?

There's isn't any reason why the phone itself would be eating battery life so quickly. I would just wipe your phone, get a new battery, a new charger and let it charge for 6-8 hours without even touching it. Then your problem should be sorted. Does blackberry have any kind of "battery stats file" like androids do? Perhaps you can "teach" the phone when its charged if you get what I mean?
