You can use your device browser to go to Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones to get the upgrade.

Also if you click options from within your current Facebook app, you can upgrade from there, although I wasn't able to do so from the app, and did so from the browser page.
I prefer the Twitterberry 0.8 version - the friends timeline view was better and you could land on this upon opening the app which you can't on OpenBeak. Does anyone know where I can still download 0.8? Every Google search brings back 0.8 results but the link is to the manufacturers site where only the latest version is available for download. Any help would be much appreciated. My friend has 0.8 on his DM and just restored this when he got his new 9700.

Hi all!

I just got my BB 8520 two weeks ago. After a few days I decided to download WLM, but when I tried to login an error popped-up; "Data services not available". I thought, that sucks and I didn't really pay any further attention to it. But I phoned my provider and they told me I do have data (BB Surf & Mail).. So I removed WLM and tried to download it agian from blackberry.com/windowslive/.. But when I click download from my BB it says that the session has expired etc. Is also have this error when I try to download BB app world..

So my question is, where do I download WLM (or another app with MSN integrated) for my blackberry curve 8520? The online version really sucks, I have to press 'refresh' all the time and it's not really 'instant'.

Thanks all..

I just got the new Bold 9700 from AT&T and started downloading some apps. Some of the apps work others seem to just sit and churn. Blackberry AppStore, Pandora and Iheartmusic seem to get stuck in a holding pattern. Blackberry appstore just lingers in the downloading state when I select Categories and the other 2 apps seems to continuously try to connect. Urbanspoon gives me a message it can't make a data connection. Is there a setting I am missing?

Googlemaps, Viigo and Weathereye all started without a hitch and are still running.

I previously used an 8310 and found it was a little slow for streaming music and some apps didn't seem to play nice. I thought the difficult apps may have been locked out by an admin (BES Account) but I am currently not connected to my BES and won't be until tomorrow. I figured this would be a good time to make sure they weren't locking out features needed by some apps. Now, I am wondering if it may be another issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Like so many others, my ID and password are stored for daily use. After a couple of those errors, I tried retyping both over and over and over again, but still nothing. Tried deleting service books and re-registering the Host Routing Table. Still nothing. One alternative would be Vlingo, are there any other choices? I just need voice dialing, don't need speech-to-text.
In my case, VoiceSignal can recognize names from the address book most of the time, but it makes frequent mistakes with numbers, even after training (voice dialing - menu - adapt digits).

I recently did an upgrade from v.2.3.2 to v.3.2.1 and found issues where Google Maps was not updating My Location. It was very sluggish. One out of every 10 tries would it find My Location. So I figured it was my device (an 8330) and though it might be too much for the unit since the app size was much larger. I downgraded back to v.2.3.2 and found the same issue. So I wiped the device with JL_CMDR and re-installed the OS, etc. and put back the older version (v.2.3.2) thinking it should work like it used to. Well, that version, even after a wipe, is sluggish. Only once in a while can it find My Location. I'm in a strong signal area (-80dB) so it's not that. All other apps that require data (the browser amongst some other apps) all work fine and immediate.

I guess the question now is, is Google having trouble with their servers when it comes to Google Maps For Mobile or is this an isolated issue I'm having? I can't figure out what else I can do but I was wondering if others were seeing the same problem on their devices? This has been happening since Sunday morning.

Thanks.

i'm considering FINALLY ditching palm desktop and my palm for a blackberry (or something that i can get on verizon) but can't find a program that integrates the calendar and tasks the way palm desktop does - something that has become critical to how i manage my life and my family.

i need a program that...

will sync with a blackberry (or something that i can get on verizon)

that i can use on my mobile device AND on the desktop - i sync multiple times a day on two different macs.

has a desktop display that allows me to see a weekly view of the calendar (with meetings, etc) and the tasks listed for each day visible BELOW the calendar - in the column for that day. (screenshot attached)

and while i'm not going to rule it out from the start, i'm not particularly comfortable with the online applications that save your data on an external server...who knows who's looking at that info.
Any suggestions?

wasn't sure whether to post this in the carriers section or here, but anyways:

I'm interested in getting a Blackberry, and one reason are push notifications on facebook. Now since I'm leaving the country quite often and for extended periods of time, another contract doesn't make much sense so i'd rather charge as pay as you go card with money and a monthly "data package"

At the phone store I learned today that at least the push email feature won't work for me without a proper phone plan. but what they couldn't tell me was if I would have the same problem with facebook, or if that app has it's own server from which it pushes ..things. (I hope this makes sense, I'm obviously far from being an expert).

does anyone have an idea?
