Bes 10 vs Lotus Traveler

Greetings,
we have about 25 Blackberry devices in our company and we have a very very old BES server to manage them (BES release should be 4.1.4).
We would like to try new devices like Z10 or Q10 but we know that we need the new BES 10 in order to make them work, so i have some questions for the bes gurus:

1)As far as i know with BES10 we'll manage only the new devices and we'll have to keep the old Bes to manage "old" devices, can you confirm that?
2)It is possible to install on a single virtual machine both the BES10 and a BES5 in order to manage every blackberry we have with a single server?
3)We use Lotus Domino and with the new Traveler version (9) Blackberry OS10 devices seem to be fully supported, so i think that it's quite normal to think "Why should i use BES10 when i already have Traveler?"
I know that traveler is only a basic mail tool but maybe it should be enough for us, where i can find a list of the most important things that i can do with the BES10 over Traveler?
4)How difficult is the setup of a BES5 and BES10 server? I'm quite familiar with Lotus Domino administration and setup but i found our current BES server already up when i was hired and in these years i made just normal routine tasks on our devices.

Thank you!

It's when you first call in whoever creates the ticket are the people who must be outsourced but once I got an actual RIM tech I could tell they are from Canada. On another note another install on a fresh 2008 R2 server of BB 10.1 and it fails again. I think I'm ready to pull the plug on this one. I must say not very impressed at all with BB10 or 10.1. Earlier versions installed just fine but it's one error after another followed by another on this

The target BES needs to have all it's modules from the same version.

A couple years ago I used Transporter to move 2100 Users from BES 4 to BES 5.
The few that failed went out of coverage DURING the move.

I wrote an SQL query to read the Last Active Device, then automatically created the Manifest file. Worked like a charm, I moved about 100 people a night.

UDS Architecture question

SSL Cert must pass all the way to the UDS in the DMZ. We tried F5 and GSS - no dice.
I used a GoDaddy Cert to the DMZ UDS (Communication Module only).
The rest of BES 10 (BMS, BDS, and UDS Core Module) are inside the Internal firewall.

We're controlling a few iPhone and Android devices in Tests.
Personally I like the Android behavior better on BES 10 - the iPhone staggers a bit on email delivery.

So what I've learned today is that it would be possible for me to install a SBS2008R2 server into my environment and run BES 10 pointing back to my SBS 2003/exchange in order to migrate to BB10. Can anyone comment on this? I can probably assemble the hardware to do this. Upgrading the SBS2003 server is a whole different task which involves a lot of other things. Getting to BB10 might be easiest by just adding another server.

Of course this all started when I was recently at a retail outlet and was able to play with a Q10 for a while. I've been a 9810 user for the past few years, and while it's served me well, the newer generation of phones is really something.

You should be able to install a Server 2008R2, add it to the domain and then install the BES10.
However you cannot add a second SBS(any version) to you SBS network due to enforced limitations by Design of the SBS.
Also Exchange has to be upgraded to SP2

BDS 6.2 and Activesync without password

Hi everybody,

i installed a BDS and it's impossible to activate a Z10. The email profil doesn't work.

For information, our architecture consists of the following elements:

- 1 AD 2008 domain (mixed mode)
- PKI 2008 R2
- 1 Organization Exchange 2010 messaging (SP1)
- 1 BES 10
The important point to consider is that our users are authenticated on the field with a SMARTCARD, they do not have a password AD. Authentication this fact using a certificate on the smart card and PIN associated.
Access ActiveSync works the same way, which implies the presence of a certificate on the BB. Is it possible to automatically push on terminals taking in consideration that each user has is own certificate?

Thanks for your help.
