I'm new to Blackberries after only getting my first Blackberry just 3 days ago. I got a Blackberry Bold 9700 with Rogers Wireless (Canadian carrier).

Most of my phones have either been PalmOS phones (Treo 600, Treo 650, Treo 680) or SonyEricsson/Ericsson phones. I did have a Nokia phone (N95-4 8GB) for about 1 year. I also have a CECT dual SIM quad band GSM phone that I occasionally use. I also have a iPhone 3GS that I've been testing/using for the past 2 weeks.

I'm new to this forum but I've been on other cellphone and/or technology forums. I'm basically a technology geek. ;-)

I'm learning about Blackberries and so far, I like what I see with my Blackberry Bold 9700. I was going to get an iphone, but they were never in stock, so I kept waiting and waiting...

Then at work I had some Data Literacy training to where we had to read an article on crackberry.com about why blackberries are better than iphones.

It all made sense and it made me rethink about what I wanted in a smartphone, I've never had a smartphone. And blackberries do seem complicated, but I love the idea of learning something new.

I got it in the mail yesterday, I'm still figuring it out, but hey, I'm 22, I work in telecommunications, it can't be that hard right?


I've been browsing the forums a ton, I don't think there is an faq for the 8500 series yet.

One thing I was wondering, my in for bbm, if I gave that out to someone, would they be able to find out my phone number? Or is it like msn, where they are just chatting with that specific pin?
