Hi there,

has anyone encountered the following problem? After upgrading OS on my Pearl 8100 to v5.4.52 I have lost my BlackBerry Maps App. I was very happy with those since they take much less GPRS data compared to Googe Maps.

When searching BB webpage I tried to download Google Maps, but the download manager informed me that my device is not compatible with Google Maps.

What map software can I use on my Pearl 8100 (no GPS)?

Many thanks,

Boris

I'd like to ask if some of you've got this application?

I have it on my BB Bold 9000 and i have a little problem.

The GPS point (me) is moving, but the maps stays the same so basically the GPS point (me) is leaving the map.

It would be really nice if it would work as the Google Maps or if it would work as the Trapster for iPhone which is following you on the map.

and also interesting is that the iPhone Trapster is "sending the signal" in the direction you are moving instead of a circuit around you.

It kind of sucks that they make little better applications for iPhones that the BB's

Sadly, they have changed to a paid service. Sure they have a Basic version, but it doesn't do navigation. That seems kind of pointless to me. It wasn't my first choice for navigation because it never was properly ported to the Blackberrry, but I always liked having it around as a backup when NAV4All couldn't find an address. Hopefully Google will bring turn-by-turn navigation to GoogleMaps on the Blackberry and not just keep it for the Droid.

i'm looking for any programs that alert friends when they are in the vicinity. i've got loopt installed. but there's a new version that only allows .5, 2, and 10 mile radiuses. that one is installed on friends phone. 2 being too short and 10 being too long. i have the old version on my phone that gives me a 5 mile radius which is perfect. the next time i reload my phone though. i'm gonna be stuck with the new version. as loopt doesn't make different versions available.

i had a program once that i was playing around with. it has 3, 6, 9, and 12 mile alerts. but never had any friends to use it with untill now. so i don't remember what program it was. and google isn't coming up with anything.

i have another program called samecellsearch47. but it don't seem to want to work on 8330 running software 5.0

don't really need anything fancy. just a basic program to send an alert.

any suggestions?

I have had the storm about 4 months now. At first I was traveling, on vacation, and had VZNav. At that time all my apps that used GPS were fine, including google maps, bberry maps, weatherbug, etc. when i returned home i cancelled VZNav. since then, none of my apps can locate me with any precision. When i open google maps, it says location within 3600 meters (about 2 miles) and then does get a better location, but never better than about 1/4-1/2 mile if i am standing still. today i was on the interstate and decided to see what... it found me to within about 1 mile, but never got me close enough to be able to use as a nav tool, although if i knew were i was, it got me close enough to find myself on the map it gave me... my settings for gps are:
GPSData source.......device
gps gps services..............location on
location aiding...........enabled
my settings for google maps are: permissions: connections.........allow interactions...........allow
user data..........allow
Hmmm...i just noticed that compatibility mode was disabled...enabled it, went outside...no change, except maps open with keyboard and it wont hide...disabled compatibility and now its back to normal, still about 1/2 mile off. any suggestions would be 'preciated
i also tried amaze with no success used their advice for verizon bberry

Hey there, I've been doing some research on getting Google Maps on our company's Blackberries via BES. I'm BES Admin just to make sure you don't tell me to talk to the BES Admin ;-)

In our corporate IT Policy under "Service Exclusivity policy group" > "Allow other Browser services" is set to false. We figured out that changing it to true solves our Google Maps problem (not receiving the map).

But in turn it enables Video-Streaming and MMS capabilities. We don't want our workers to be able to stream videos and send/receive MMS, but we also want them to be able to use Google Maps. Is there a workaround or a proper solution to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I re-installed[my bad :-(] Google Maps on my blackberry storm and now it doesn't work. Actually, the only problem before re-installing was that it was unable to locate me while indoors. I don't know what got me when I thought re-installing might fix this issue. I deleted Google Maps, downloaded/re-installed from India specific Google Mobile site and now it just doesn't work. When I run it immediately after hard-booting my BB device, it says:
"Network Unavailable:This application requires a data connection, and some Blackberry devices require reconfiguration to work properly. Please visit htt...../gmm on your computer for more info."
When you do OK on this dialog box and try to run the maps again, it just freezes on start(welcome screen with frozen progress bar).
Help me please. I really want Google Maps running on my device.
It was BB Storm on Verizon Wireless originally. I got it unlocked and run it on Airtel India.
Please note, before re-installing, it was working just fine(except unable to locate me while indoors).

Thanks in advance for your responses!
