I just got my 9700, and noticed something immediately. The talk button seems like it's stuck. It's really hard to press, and doesn't really give any feedback when you do press it (no slight click like the other buttons). It doesn't feel like any of the other buttons (option, back or end call) when you press down on it. Do I have a defective unit? Or are others noticing this with the phone?

Other than this one issue, the phone is great.

So I went to two separate AT&T corporate stores in NYC asking if they had the 9700 (basically begging them to sell it to me). Two separate sales reps (one of whom I've dealt with before and who seems to know his shit) said that they are going on sale on Sunday (they already have plenty of stock) and that the price is going to be $150 less $100 MIR for a net price of $50!!! When the first person told me I said she was crazy and had no idea what she was talking about. But after talking to the second guy, I don't know...maybe it's really going to be $50.

Not that I wasn't getting one anyway, but now it's a no brainer!!

Hi,

I have a storm and am signed up with Verizon. When my email was originally setup at the Verizon store, they setup my email as IMAP. My email account is hosted on Exchange server at our office, but I do not want to use BES. I was having some problems with the IMAP, and I was able to correct it by changing my email settings via the verizon BB web page to use Outlook Web Access and it works great. The only issue now is that on the main screen I have two messaging icons, one with the previous email as well as it's receiving the most current email as well, and a second account that is the fresh account I setup that only has the email that is current.

Is there any way to eliminate the old email account on the phone? Any thoughts woudl be great.

Thanks

Andre

Our Firewalls at work are very strict. So strict, the BB Desktop Mgr Software can't link to BB's website and allow me to set the sync paramiters for Outlook.

However, the IT guys say they can open the exact Firewall ports to allow the software to link if they know exactly which specific TCP/IP Port Addresses the software requires to link up to Blackberry and thereby allowing the software to fully function and allow me to sync to Outlook?

Does anyone know them all. There seems to be more than one.
Thank you.

Ok, just got my 9700 delivered this afternoon. First impressions, very nice looking! But not a huge leap at all from previous models. Honestly, I like the Black trackball on my 8900 better. One major gripe right now is that the side rails are extremly loose. Come on Rim, are we back to the 8800 days with loose squeeky fake metal rails. Seriously, someone needs to up the build quaility on there devices. And even worse, crazy lag on the device! Not as peppy as some have been saying. I'm a BB veteran, so I'll do a swap in a few days after some use and see if it grows on me. However, build quiality in my eyes has really dropped on RIMS devices in the last few year, for the exception of the original bold.

I have tried numerous approaches to combine GlobalEventListener and PhoneListener but none works. I need to be able to tell the PhoneListener to do things including shutting down. And it has to be done from an application I am developing. The only way suggested for instant communication between apps are GlobalEvents. The closest I got is a testmodule that crashes at start or if I change it a bit only functions as a phone listener. So there seems to be conflict here. The best structural approach seems to be to only use the GlobalEventListener since it can catch all events. Problem with this is that there seems to be no documentation on the phone events. At least I have not found any. Anyone succeeded with this?

I recently switched from a palm centro to the storm 2 and have several questions:
1) I am using a mac and just bought "the missing sync". Is this the only software I should be using on my computer to back up my info. Do I have to use ical and address book to view my contacts?
2) How can I get my "notes" from my palm desktop onto my storm? Is there a way to manage this somewhere on my desktop and then sync, or should I buy another application? I loved on my palm how there were many diff categories and I could group things together to organize my memos. It doesn't seem to be there on the BB. Someone suggested downloading splash id. Any thoughts? Will I be able to manage that on my desktop? And will it be compatible with my new wireless sync?
3) Not loving the new calendar. How do you "search" it for say...someone's birthday? I have heard pocket day is great. Can/should I download this? Same questions as #2 for pocket day....can I manage it on my desktop, and will it wirelessly sync? Is it more similar to the old palm calendar?

and most importantly, how well will all of these things work together??

Really having a hard time switching over. I love the more advanced features of the BB, but miss the basic things I really had down! Any feedback is sooo appreciated...
Thank you!

Hey everyone,

First off...8820 with 4.5.0.174 platform 2.7.0.92.

This all started yesterday, my wife had emailed me a picture from our honeymoon to look at, while the file was downloading I looked to check on its progress and noticed that the screen had gone white with a small red "x" in the top left. I tried to hit end and get back to the home screen, but nothing happened so I pulled the battery.

The phone restarted but immediately froze at like 86% on verifying security software. I gave it some time, thinking it was just sluggish from the crash but it never moved. I noticed that the phone did establish a connection to AT&T, but it wouldn't respond or move from the 86%.

Long story short this happened all day yesterday, as I tried repeatedly pulling the battery and hoping that the phone would make it past. At time it would freeze at different percentages and for a while it was freezing at 100% "security tests passed."

What I did find though was that if the phone received an email or a calendar reminder (but not a BBM) that would push it through the freeze. However, it wouldn't last more than a couple of minutes after that before it would lock up again. I managed to make a phone call in the afternoon and was on the phone for about 20 mins, but when I went to hang up the phone was frozen showing a call time of 5mins and couldn't be disconnected unless I pulled the battery.

So this morning I figured it was time to update the OS. I managed to get the phone past the verifying security software long enough to backup the phone and do a quick sync with my outlook. After a wipe from JLCmdr, I updated with the latest OS from the forums today....4.5.0.294 platform 2.7.0.105.

Murphy's law....it's still freezing. My phone's been at 84% on the verifying security software for the last 15mins. When it first boots the "new setup wizard" pops up because it is a new OS but then disappears as the phone goes through its security software verification.

Anyone have any ideas? Is this thing completely shot? Time for a 9700?

Thanks for the help.

Hello everyone I am new to this forum, however I could not find an answer on previous post. I have an 8900 with the data package, on T-Mobile. It was working fine till yesterday. I was at home and noticed I was unable to make calls, it would simply say "connection failed", the phone is set to wi-fi prefferred. So I set it to mobile network prefferred and I was able to make calls. I reset my phone and my computer as well as my router, I even made it an open network. My phone goes on the internet thru UMA, but it will not recieve or make calls when I am on UMA. I also noticed I do not recieve text as well when on UMA. Like I said this problem just occured I don't know if it is my router or my phone. I am going to try to go to another wireless network to see if I still have the same problem. I appreciate in advance any help you could offer me as I am at a loss.
