That just has to do with their re-branding.

Alright, my bad on saying the WiMAX infrastructre is up in most markets. After talking with my rep yesterday, he said there are a few major cities that already have it setup.

Chicago being one of them.

But he also said that QChat doesn't run off the WiMAX network.

Come on, i think DC by Nextel is the Best, try to use another one or like this and verify delay communication, just wait for a freat news at the end of 2008, if you compare rates with other carriers and stablish the same communication, you obtain the answer for this.

The reason why Nextel is dead is because they are being forced to move off the band that the iDEN network uses. The FCC has mandated that they move off the band completely by 2010 I believe and that is why the buyout of Nextel by Sprint was actually a good idea. I personally loved Nextel, it's the only phone carrier I ever had that had service everywhere, even places you would never expect to find it. The biggest problem with Nextel was the cheap, crippled Motorola phones but I guess they didn't have much choice since iDEN is a Motorola product.

There is a wifi true iDEN blackberry coming this summer. And the Motorola iDEN handsets are the most durable phones on the market. I dont know what the guy means by "cheap"? Lg, Sanyo and samsung make some of the cheesiest phones on the market for Sprint Verizon ,Alltel etc.

Where do you get the info abou this wifi IDEN BB. I havent seen one single thread of this rumor. If you are gonna make statements make sure you have the evidence to back it up. Especially since this isnt the rumor thread.

I think Nextel will be dead by years end.

There have been plenty of posts on a iDEN/WiFi BB. Hesse announced it at CTIA.

the iDEN network is staying for people on true iDEN handsets. Sprint is rolling qchat and new handsets for people wanting to jump to their network. No talk of them dumping iDEN yet. And for people who hate iDEN they should goto another network and stop bashing the loyal customers who have the iDEN for whats its meant to be used for. And that is PTT.
