Default I want, I want...I need, I need - 10-07-2004, 09:00 PM

Gotta get these things for my 7100T:

1. A new case. Holster / pouch style for easy slide in, slide out. Supple leather, swivel belt clip.

2. A software update so that I can move icons between groups (i.e., move "compose" out from under applications and into the main area).

3. New Themes and the ability to create custom themes.

4. A software update so we can re-organize the web bookmarks (keep groups collapsed, move bookmarks from one group to another, re-order groups, etc.)

Just a few minor things...come on RIM, get on it!!

What else should we add to the 7100T wish-list? Trying to keep it "in scope" of software updates vs. something that would require a major release (like 4.0 or whatever)

You can install the themes for a Blackberry 77xx or 72xx on your 7100. This will give you back the Blackberry default layout.

I would still like distinctive ringtones for different contacts.

It is very easy. Download the firmware package for a 77xx (e.g. Rogers) and install this package to your computer. Then goto C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\7700-v3.7.1.41_P1.6.1.41\Java and copy the file net_rim_theme_blackberry_large.cod to separate directory. Now use javaloader.exe to upload the file to your Blackberry with the following command line:
javaloader -usb load net_rim_theme_blackberry_large.cod

Afterwards goto Options->Themes on your Blackberry and change to the new theme.

If you do not have the javaloader.exe than you can use Application Loader from Desktop Manager to load the new theme to your Blackberry. To do this you must create a simple text file with the extension alx (e.g. theme.alx) which contains the following text:
Code:
<loader version="1.0">
<application id="BB 7730 Theme">
<name>
BB 7730 Theme
</name>
<description >
</description>
<version >
0.1
</version>
<fileset Java="1.0">
<files >
net_rim_theme_blackberry_large.cod
</files>
</fileset>
</application>
</loader>
The cod file and the alx file must be located in the same directory. After starting Application Loader browse to this directory and add it to the app list.

For the Vodafone 7100V theme to work on an other Blackberry (e.g. 7100T, 7730, 7230 etc.) you have to upload this three files to your device

net_rim_theme_blackberry_240x260.cod
net_rim_theme_vodafone_240x260.cod
net_rim_theme_vodafone.cod

If one of this files is missing, the Vodafone 7100V theme won't work!

You do not need the javaloader.exe to upload the cod-files to your Blackberry. Create an alx-file like in the above example and use Application Loader to load the files to your Blackberry.
