Default Blackberry 7100i Question - 03-30-2008, 05:07 PM

Hi I was thinking about getting the blackberry 7100i for nextel and I was wondering if you can recieve and send text messages while in call?

Not on an IDEN device. I dont believe that is possible. Its been quite some time since I carried that model so I cant be 100% sure

No, you can't do both voice an data (email, broswer, sms) at the same time. I believe it's that way with all devices - but I am not sure about WiFi devices.

all that sucks. well right now I have the i870 so if I get it could I just put my sim card in and it would work? also whats this about it doesnt support SMS will I not be able to text?

You will have to call Nextel to have a BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.

the 7100i does not support sending SMS messages. You can send and receive MMS messages and receive SMS messages.

7100i can text message and its a very reliable source to do so. Its just that its expensive. Instead of texting through the phone it all goes through data. you have to get a data package in order to text and those can be expensive.

That is incorrect. They can send MMS which requires the mesaging plan. It has nothing to do with the data plan.
