Default 7100T - possible to unlock w/o SIM? - 06-12-2008, 08:54 AM

Hello all,

I need to temp use my old 7100T until the Bold comes out. My current Pearl is acting up so I'm just preparing a backup in case something drastic happens with it.

The question is I don't have the SIM card for the 7100T, probably in the bottom of a drawer somewhere. Is the SIM card needed to have it unlocked? I haven't been a Tmobile customer for about two years but was a customer of theirs for probably five years prior. Will they still unlock my phone? I suppose I can go to an internet unlocking service, pay the $40 and have them send me the unlock codes as a last resort.

Obviously, I'm quite the ludite when it comes to these things so any inputs is appreciated.

Cheers.

No, you don't need the original SIM card, but when entering an unlock code you will need a SIM card, probably a T-Mobile one.
